About the retreat
A weekend retreat in the heart of Europe
New Vraja Dhama is one of the largest and most developed ISKCON farm communities in the western world, and the largest sustainable ecological farm in Europe. Set in 300 hectares of land, in an unassuming remote village in the Hungarian countryside, New Vraja Dhama was established in 1993 by Srila Sivarama Swami and the growing community of devotees in Hungary, in order to exhibit the famous maxim coined by Srila Prabhupada: ‘simple living, high thinking’.
In this beautiful setting, and as a preparation for the coming Janmastami festivities, we will spend a few days together diving deep into an ocean of transcendental topics. During this weekend we will explore together how one can turn book knowledge into a day to day reality. Facing obstacles and dealing with the “real world” can be bewildering, especially as we try to come closer to the ideals presented to us in the Holy scriptures. Together, we can discover how to practically apply the philosophy in those daily situations in a realistic and balanced way.
Friday: after a welcome session and dinner we will kick start the weekend with a talk from our special guest speaker, Sivarama Swami.
Saturday: an activity packed day, we will have an opportunity to join the morning temple program and get our hands dirty in the garden or goshala doing some service. Besides our two lectures that day (one of which will be given by Sivarama Swami) we will also join a one hour kirtan session in the temple room.
Sunday: “make it practical” workshop before we all go back home to apply “live” what we learned during the weekend.
We look forward to seeing you, make sure to book your slot now before the best accommodations are sold out…
